Early in his life, Jimmy Porter somehow knew music would become his life long career. He began an interest in drums at the age of four and piano at age six. By the age of seven, he began to study under select musicians from the “Presidents Own” United States Army Band and Marine Drum and Bugle Corp.
After performing in numerous ensembles throughout grade and high schools in Alexandria Virginia, Jimmy attended the University of North Texas to pursue a degree in Percussion Performance with a piano minor. Over the years and miles, Jimmy strengthened as an entertainer, fine tuning his skills as a percussionist, keyboardist, bass guitarist, singer/songwriter, and band leader. In 1995, Jimmy was introduced to the dueling piano industry and found he had a special knack in that area of “live” music.
He joined the Crocodile Rocks family in 1998 and performed here for over a decade. After leaving for eight years to become Entertainment Director at Bobby McKeys, National Harbor, MD, Jimmy has eagerly returned home to entertain in Myrtle Beach once again.
Jimmy is happy and excited to be back home and is honored to have the opportunity to perform at Crocodile Rocks once again. Please stop by for a song, a drink, and a smile and welcome Jimmy Porter back to our stage.
